PROCLAMATION

 

WHEREAS, The United States Maritime Literature Awards were founded in     Fulton, Texas: and
 

WHEREAS, Richard Lamb, a resident of Fulton, founded these awards; and

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Deatherage, a University of Texas graduate, was
appointed as the first Director of the United
States Maritime Literature Awards; and

 WHEREAS, First Lady Laura Bush recognized these national awards in September, 2002; and

 WHEREAS, Kathy Fisher Binney of Port Aransas is recognized as the Official First Artist of the
United States Maritime Literature Awards; and

 WHEREAS, Natalie Covarrubias, a Rockport-Fulton  High School student assisted in the logo
design of the United States Maritime Literature Awards; and

 
WHEREAS, First Class Printing of Rockport created the first official banner for the
United States Maritime Literature Awards; and
 

NOW THEREFORE, I, Mike Womack, Mayor of the Town of Fulton, do hereby declare
my recognition and congratulations to the participants who contributed to the founding of the
United States Maritime Literature Awards which are now recognized by the White House,
and contribute to the promotion of maritime writers and publishing companies nationally.

 

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the
City to be affixed on this 9th day of January, 2003.
