Mission
Statement
The
United States Maritime Literature Awards® is dedicated to the
promotion of American Maritime Literature through nominations and
awards annually.
Captain
Stephen J. Deatherage and Captain Richard Lamb founded the
United States Maritime Literature Awards to promote maritime writers,
recognize publishing companies and encourage future historians to
preserve
our maritime history through literature.

Captain
Deatherage (first left) serves as the senior captain aboard
the "Resolution" an early
1800s replica pinky schooner, which is based at Londontown, near Annapolis.
He is a certified keelboat instructor for the American Sailing
Association and U.S. Sailing Association. He serves as a volunteer
sea scout leader
and as the Director of the United States Maritime Literature Awards.

Captain
Lamb(right) is a member of the Writers League of Texas,
The American Sailing Association, The Rockport Yacht Club.
He has served as a member of the Board of Directors &
Historian for the Rockport Yacht Club. He is a U.S.
Coast Guard licensed Captain.
